Download or read book No Point Talking. written by Yuvraj Goswami and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2019-01-17 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is no point talking about it. In fact, there is nothing to talk about. So, what do we have? This is not classical poetry. It is not contemporary either. The words used are simple to mean what they intend. Sentences are easy and sensible. Yet, different poems will to different people, do different things at different times. The poetry is such that you do to the poem more than what the poetry can. That is the potency and is outrageously crazy. The subject is the objective of this book. There is no point talking about it. It can only Nudge you, point at you, for you to touch your own self. How else is one to do that than in their own way? If in the mood to get high, you may go higher. You do not have to, but you will be aware of how something is happening out of nothing. If open and willing, you will arrive at what’s here and now, infinite and ultimate. The whole thing is within, with or without this book. This is a catalyst, or a mirror, or a window, or a game to play. There is no point talking about it, so read!

Summary Book Review The Black Hole of Empire by Partha Chatterjee:
Download or read book The Black Hole of Empire written by Partha Chatterjee and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2012-04-08 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Siraj, the ruler of Bengal, overran the British settlement of Calcutta in 1756, he allegedly jailed 146 European prisoners overnight in a cramped prison. Of the group, 123 died of suffocation. While this episode was never independently confirmed, the story of "the black hole of Calcutta" was widely circulated and seen by the British public as an atrocity committed by savage colonial subjects. The Black Hole of Empire follows the ever-changing representations of this historical event and founding myth of the British Empire in India, from the eighteenth century to the present. Partha Chatterjee explores how a supposed tragedy paved the ideological foundations for the "civilizing" force of British imperial rule and territorial control in India. Chatterjee takes a close look at the justifications of modern empire by liberal thinkers, international lawyers, and conservative traditionalists, and examines the intellectual and political responses of the colonized, including those of Bengali nationalists. The two sides of empire's entwined history are brought together in the story of the Black Hole memorial: set up in Calcutta in 1760, demolished in 1821, restored by Lord Curzon in 1902, and removed in 1940 to a neglected churchyard. Challenging conventional truisms of imperial history, nationalist scholarship, and liberal visions of globalization, Chatterjee argues that empire is a necessary and continuing part of the history of the modern state.

Summary Book Review Preaching from Inside the Story by Jeffrey W. Frymire:
Download or read book Preaching from Inside the Story written by Jeffrey W. Frymire and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2022-06-02 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Preaching from Inside the Story is a book that seeks to carve out an understanding of narrative preaching in an age where there is little agreement about its nature and practice. Capitalizing on the works of Craddock and Lowry, it seeks to find an expanded palette upon which the preacher may engage the larger canvas of narrative preaching. This book will engage the mind by introducing neuroscientific understandings of creativity; build upon the foundations of the philosophy of stories by engaging Aristotle’s foundational understanding of narrative; and renew the Lowry Loop by expanding this seminal work and how it should be understood in our current culture. Preaching from Inside the Story breaks new ground by encouraging preachers to move inside stories and tell them from the inside out providing a positive effect, thereby affording non-narrative preachers to connect with storytelling principles. Ultimately, it is filled with examples of how to do narrative in a very practical way. However, in showing these practical examples, the reader is involved in a deep analysis of those narrative sermons and how they fit into an overall narrative understanding of preaching. In the final analysis, it invites the reader to take a fresh journey into narrative preaching.

Summary Book Review The Tragedie of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare:
Download or read book The Tragedie of Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2014-01-10 with total page 487 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This annotated edition of The Tragedie of Romeo and Juliet provides two valuable textual services to its readers. It restores the language of Shakespeare to that of the First Folio of 1623, with its idiosyncratic but illuminating spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. It also provides footnotes and annotations that are candid and plainspoken in their accounting of Shakespeare’s themes, especially his frequent if oft-overlooked and underappreciated bawdy puns and allusions. An extensive introduction is included, as are appendices detailing typographical errors, stage directions, emended lineations and character tags from the First Folio.
Summary Book Review Reading America by Elizabeth Boyle:
Download or read book Reading America written by Elizabeth Boyle and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2009-03-26 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This specially commissioned volume of essays offers a refreshing and unusual perspective on classic novels from the American literary canon. Accessible to students, scholars and the interested reader, this engaging collection explores familiar novels through unfamiliar lenses and, in so doing, sheds light on surprising and previously overlooked aspects of each text. Reading America presents a new approach to American literature by showcasing a cross-section of recent research into previously un-tapped areas of interest. Each chapter attempts to re-read classic American texts using new or unorthodox theoretical frameworks, including such diverse topics as an Emersonian reading of Don DeLillo, decoding Thomas Pynchon with eco-criticism and understanding Paul Auster’s New York Trilogy by exploring the graphic novel version of “City of Glass”. Other authors explored in this way include Henry James, Truman Capote, Ralph Ellison, Toni Morrison, Joyce Carol Oates and F. Scott Fitzgerald. This type of approach widens the reader’s knowledge of each well-known text and encourages new critical evaluations of contemporary American literature. The collection moves through six large topic areas, from Naturalism and an idea of the “Great American Novel” at the end of the nineteenth century, through politics, sexuality, language and nature, to a contemporary engagement with postmodernism. Each essay deals with its own particular subject and author, but the full impact of each on the notion of the “American novel” as a phenomenon can only be understood when read in conjunction with the others. Of interest to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, Reading America would be a valuable asset to any American Studies or American Literature degree course, and a useful companion to American History or Politics courses. The volume will also attract strong interest from established academics, especially those researching the fields of literature, critical theory, cultural history and politics.
