Book excerpt: In The Templar Treasure, Dr. Stuart Peterson is Curator of Medieval history at the prestigious British Museum. Stuart and his fiancé, Savanna, take a long overdue vacation to Troyes, France, planning on immersing themselves in the region’s medieval history. Stuart’s passion for Templar history and Savanna’s love of medieval cathedrals draw them through the narrow streets of the quaint old town Tudor buildings. However, Stuart is involved in an accident that could change their lives forever. This accident will propel him on a journey through Templar history, uncovering secrets from the past. Has this accident allowed Stuart to tap into a mystical collective consciousness? Could this information help lead him to where the Templar treasures are hidden today? From the Order’s founding to the insanity that occurred on Friday, October 13, 1307, Stuart uncovers what life was really like for a Templar knight in medieval times. However, one thing is for sure. This journey will make Stuart question his definition of reality.

Now he must decide whether to uphold his oath to protect the Templar Knights--treasure, or protect at all costs, the frail lass who is destined to save his beloved Scotland. With either choice, his soul and his heart are at risk. Heather witnessed the stone weep when she touched it. She knows she is destined to love only once. Now, trussed and kidnapped, she vows never to trust the man who in one breath tries to kill her, and in the next, vows to keep her safe from harm--even though her heart aches for him to love her.

Book excerpt: Introduction by Richard Carpenter The definitive biography of one of the most enduring and endeared recording artists in history—the Carpenters—is told for the first time from the perspective of Richard Carpenter, through more than 100 hours of exclusive interviews and some 200 photographs from Richard's personal archive, many never published. After becoming multimillion-selling, Grammy-winning superstars with their 1970 breakthrough hit "(They Long to Be) Close to You," Richard and Karen Carpenter would win over millions of fans worldwide with a record-breaking string of hits including "We've Only Just Begun," "Top of the World," and "Yesterday Once More." By 1975, success was taking its toll. Years of jam-packed work schedules, including hundreds of concert engagements, proved to be just too much for the Carpenters to keep the hits coming—and, ultimately, to keep the music playing at all. However, Richard and Karen never took their adoring public, or each other, for granted. In Carpenters: The Musical Legacy, Richard Carpenter tells his story for the first time. With candor, heart, and humor, he sheds new light on the Carpenters' trials and triumphs—work that remains the gold standard for melodic pop. This beautifully illustrated definitive biography, with exclusive interviews and never-before-seen photographs, is a must-have for any Carpenters fan.

Book excerpt: This timely volume examines the commitments of historicism in the wake of New Historicism. It contributes to the construction of a materialist historicism while, at the same time, proposing that discussions of work need not be limited to the clash between labour and capital. To this end, the essays offer more than a strictly historical view of the complex terms, social and literary, within which labour was treated in the medieval period. Several of the essays strive to reformulate the very critical language we use to think about the categories of labour and work through a continually doubled engagement with modern theories of labour and medieval theories and practices of labour.

This book was released on 2021-03-11 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book that takes the reader back in time more than two thousand years and places them in a front-row seat to view the most influential life ever lived...the life of Jesus Christ. Taking great care to maintain accuracy, author Barbara Fulcher masterfully personalizes stories of the Bible by inserting fictional characters as the protagonist. By doing so, she transforms the story into a touching personal experience that is especially relatable to young readers. When most of us pass from this earth, we will not be remembered far beyond our burial date. But there are a few special individuals who live a life that touches others in a way that is never forgotten. Barbara Fulcher is one of those special few, and this book is but one piece of evidence solidifying her legacy. It is my honor to introduce you to God's Treasures: Through the Eyes of a Child and to its author. Barbara Fulcher is an evangelical Christian. She is an author for the first time at the age of ninety. Barbara is a wife, a musician, a teacher, a student of biblical history, and the matriarch of a family currently numbering thirty-one children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. But, most importantly to me, she is my mother. Now, read and enjoy God's Treasures: Through the Eyes of a Child, and experience how it will bring you closer to the person you need to know the most-Jesus Christ. -Russ Fulcher, United States Congressman

This book was released on 2017-12-18 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1400 an immense Chinese fleet of hundreds of ships and tens of thousands of men sailed through the seas, reaching Indonesia, India, Persia, Arabia and Africa: sent by a proud emperor to bring to the world the glory and the power of the Ming, was commanded by the most famous of the Chinese admirals, an eunuch named Zheng He. The ships carried valuable books, precious fabrics, delicate and beautiful ceramics, in addition to gold and silver destined for the princes of the visited countries, and were taking back in China exotic merchandise to show at court with the ambassadors of the Asian world who prostrated themselves in submission: for this reason they were called Treasures Ships. The history and descriptions of the peoples met are presented based on the news collected by previous and following travellers, as well as by the chroniclers who followed the fleet leaving a testimony of the voyages that had been accomplished. Despite the fact that the surviving information is very limited, this book narrates the missions of the Fleet of the Treasures between 1405 and 1433, attempting to reconstruct the routes likely to have been followed on the basis of the sea and wind conditions, phased by the monsoon cycle and detected today with precision by the satellites. After a thirty-year long endeavour the Chinese retired from the sea, cancelled the travels reports, destroyed the ships renouncing to sail and remained helpless in face of the penetration of European Navies before and of the Japanese aggression afterward. Today, China is currently rebuilding a large fleet that is already carrying its weight in home and neighbouring waters and its flag in the oceans, retracing the endeavour accomplished 600 years ago.
