Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lessons learned on the Mission Field draws from varied experiences of Carl’s years in the army and the mission field to expose hindrances to the relationship between humans and God. These lessons illustrate how to renew an intimate relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, which is of ultimate concern to the many that may have slipped or fallen by the wayside. The purpose of the first book, A Challenge to Live, was to bring people back to the Lord. The need is greater, as we are approaching catastrophic times in which only the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit can provide what is needed. His security, safety, sustenance, guidance, joy, peace, and harmony are and will continue to be desperately needed. We must reach him now while he is knocking at our door.

Download or read book In the Mission Field written by Ralph W.J. Sedras and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2014-12-30 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: That Friday, I fixed broken doors, hinges, and any other small things I could find. In the meantime, it was being decided by all the parties involved that I would be returning with Pastor Peter on Saturday—I had no choice. I was disappointed, but what could I do? There were simply not enough finances. The morning arrived quickly. We had packed the night before, and we were all on Simáo’s bakkie: Charlotte and their son Zachari-Paul who was on her lap next to Simáo. Peter, Asher, David and I were on the back. We were pointing out interesting sites, trees, or unusual objects along the road. We did not see any animals. Simáo had told us that animals were very scarce in the area as, during the war, all cattle and wild animals were caught and slaughtered for their meat. As we were driving along we all became quiet and very solemn, each in our own world. David went to stand with Peter and Asher behind the cab. All of a sudden I saw the sky opening before my very eyes! The clouds parted, and the heavens were displayed before me in all of their splendor. I knew something big was going to happen. I then found myself asking God, “Lord, why the exercise?” The answer came immediately in a loud booming voice—almost like thunder, “It was your obedience that was required.”

Summary Book Review A Field Guide for Everyday Mission by Ben Connelly:

Download or read book A Field Guide for Everyday Mission written by Ben Connelly and published by Moody Publishers. This book was released on 2014-05-19 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surprise – whoever you are, you’re a missionary! If you call yourself a follower of Jesus, God calls you his missionary. You may never go halfway around the world. You may not raise financial support. But because of God’s gospel work in you, you are on mission: to people in your work, school, neighborhood, and those in need. As everyday missionaries, God has sent us to live out his Great Commission in the ordinary, normal, all-too-busy, and even most mundane moments of our lives. But what exactly does an everyday missionary do? Where and when does this everyday mission happen? Most importantly, how can you possibly share the gospel, without killing your relationships?! Those are the types of questions A Field Guide for Everyday Mission answers for individuals, churches, small groups, Sunday schools, and missional communities. Many resources exist on missional theory, missional leadership, and even missional stories. But based on their years of helping people tangibly demonstrate the gospel, pastors and practitioners Ben Connelly and Bob Roberts Jr. have created an immediately implementable resource to help ordinary followers of Jesus put the idea of mission into everyday practice. Each day’s reading includes a biblical principle that can immediately be put into practice. Each reading ends with a few ways to help you live out the principle in your daily life. By the end of day 30, you’ll have 101 different ways to demonstrate the gospel in your daily life. And along the way, other practitioners such as Jeff Vanderstelt, Rick McKinley, and Lance Ford share stories about living on God’s everyday mission in their unique context. A Field Guide for Everyday Mission is a tool designed for you, whether you’re newly considering the missional idea, whether you’ve never heard the word before, or whether you’ve spent years trying to figure out how to put that idea into practice.

Download or read book From Cotton Fields to Mission Fields written by Fred M. Allen and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2021-02-18 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a thirteen year old boy on an East Texas farm, Fred M. Allen read a book about explorer/missionary David Livingstone and was mesmerized. Many years later, he stood at the edge of the mighty Victoria Falls and gazed upon a statue of Livingstone. By then, Allen had spent a lifetime in service for the Lord. From Cotton Fields to Mission Fields reveals the experiences that led Allen to make it his mission to spread God’s Word, beginning with his boyhood in Texas and extending to his decades of work as a missionary in Zambia. Allen began writing his stories for family and friends but realized how much his words could inspire others, after being given a column in a weekly newspaper. Then his brother, Duane Allen of the musical group “The Oak Ridge Boys,” offered to share his stories on social media. Over and over, people asked, “Are these stories in a book?” In this inspiring Christian memoir, Allen looks back on his life, collecting those stories in one place. His experiences highlight the importance of faith, hard work, and walking the path that God intended.

Book excerpt: Born in the south to a slave mother and a white father, Anna Knight grew up in the Jasper County, Mississippi cotton fields. Realizing this wasn’t for her, she taught herself to read and write and eventually became the first in her family to graduate from College. In From Cotton Fields to Mission Fields, author Dorothy Knight Marsh tells her great-aunt’s story. This memoir follows Anna from her early years in Mississippi, around the world, and back again. She graduated as a nurse from Battle Creek Sanitarium in Michigan and later returned home and operated a self-supporting school for the adults and children. Anna was then appointed a missionary to India, serving nearly seven years. Never forgetting those she left behind, Anna returned to the United States and restarted the school the knight riders burned. From Cotton Fields to Mission Fields narrates the story of a woman of purpose who had no fear, dedicated her life to education, establishing schools throughout the south for all black children.
