There are two linked indexes in this volume, a main index at the front of this volume that will take you to the beginning each of the books of the bible and another index at the beginning of each book there is a linked scripture index leading to the particular subject. MacLaren’s Expositions of Holy Scripture is considered one of the greatest expositor’s commentary of all time. This commentary has more than 1,500 sermons arranged in canonical order with more than 46,000 scriptural references, making this collection one of the fullest expositor’s commentary ever. For his work MacLaren drew praise from many. A. T. Robertson Said of MacLaren “His matchless discourses are the fruit of the most exact scholarship and spiritual enthusiasm.” F. B. Meyer said “As an expository preacher none of them equaled MacLaren of Manchester, and no other sermons were so widely read the world around.” MacLaren was born in Glasgow on February 11, 1826, and died in Manchester on May 5, 1910. He had been for almost sixty-five years a minister, entirely devoted to his calling. He lived more than almost any of the great preachers of his time between his study, his pulpit, his pen. His ministry fell into a quiet routine for which he was always grateful: two sermons on Sunday, a Monday prayer meeting and a Thursday service and lecture. His parishioners thought his sermons to them were the best he ever preached. In April 1858 he was called to be minister at Union Chapel in Manchester. No ministry could have been happier. The church prospered and a new building had to be erected to seat 1,500; every sitting was taken. His renown as preacher spread throughout the English-speaking world. His pulpit became his throne. He was twice elected President of the Baptist Union. He resigned as pastor in 1905 after a ministry of forty-five years. MacLaren’s religious life was hid with Christ in God. He walked with God day by day. He loved Jesus Christ with a reverent, holy love and lived to make Him known. In his farewell sermon at Union he said: "To efface oneself is one of a preacher’s first duties."

This book was released on 2018-06-25 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Expositions of Holy Scripture, Christian minister Alexander Maclaren provides a detailed examination and commentary of four of the most important holy scriptures: the epistle of Ephesians, the first and second books of Saint Peter, and the book of Saint John. Superbly researched and full of detail, this book demonstrates the depth of knowledge which Alexander Maclaren approached the holy scriptures. An avid student of Greek and Hebrew, Maclaren held a notably thorough approach to the scripture, which he sought to explain and interpret for the Christian audience. Each successive chapter and verse of the holy writings are analysed by Maclaren, who sets aside his own chapters devoted to explaining the principle tenets of the text. Every key event or holy doctrine in the writings receives an account, such as for instance the famous Resurrection of the Souls and the various explanations of Christ as teacher and holy Lord.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What do the feasts of the Bible reveal about our place in today’s tired world? In short, everything. From Genesis through Revelation, redemptive history is captured through feasts. Through them, God calls his people to commemorate mercy, delight in grace, and commune with him and with each other. In the process, he proves he doesn’t ration his rich, soul-satisfying love toward us but instead lets it overflow. Invitations to Abundance brings to life the festivities described in the Bible and illuminates how relevant they remain in a modern world defined by isolation and disillusionment. When your heart needs encouragement, these wondrous celebrations remind you why, where, and how you can find security, unity, and hope. Each chapter seats us at a unique feast from Scripture—from the well known to the less familiar—and considers how you can respond worshipfully as a partaker of these celebrations. Invitations to Abundance shows you how to reciprocate God’s initiating kindness and what it means to live knowing God’s table is spread before you.

Download or read book Remarkable Hope written by Shauna Letellier and published by Hachette UK. This book was released on 2019-03-05 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rediscover eight people in the Bible whose hopes and expectations went from disappointment to life-changing transformation through Jesus. Remarkable Hope reveals a pattern of hope where individuals were surprised by Jesus in drastic ways after they placed their hope in him and were -- at first -- disappointed. Their stories show his work was rarely what they anticipated. As we observe Christ's faithful commitment to these Biblical characters who hoped in him, we are wowed by his unseen plan. We are comforted by his orchestration of circumstances and revived by his enduring presence. Remarkable Hope helps us gladly declare, like the apostle Paul, that "our hope does not disappoint us."

Summary Book Review Biblical Studies on the Internet by Roland H. Worth, Jr.:
Download or read book Biblical Studies on the Internet written by Roland H. Worth, Jr. and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2008-09-18 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The new edition includes more than 4,800 resources available at more than 10,000 Internet sites that provide information on a range of biblical study topics including Bible translations in English and other languages, audio translations of the Bible in English and other languages, commentaries, dictionaries, and other resource materials including ones in Greek, Hebrew and other ancient languages. The author also has adopted a new method of referencing and cataloging the most widely used web pages to facilitate a major expansion of resources without increasing the physical length of the book itself. In cases when ten or more resources are listed on a single web page, the author has assigned the web page a three-digit code. The code is used to identify this web page as a major resource within the main text, while any needed instructions for use of the site are cross-referenced separately in the final chapter. In adopting this concise method, the author was able to add hundreds of additional or updated web resources, a surprising number of which can be downloaded onto a hard drive for immediate and continued use.
