Summary Book Review Abundant Life for Your Spirit, Soul and Body by Trevor Bartley:
Download or read book Abundant Life for Your Spirit, Soul and Body written by Trevor Bartley and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2017-03-29 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our opening verse for this book is from John 10:10b, I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). The Greek word used here for life is zo. So we can conclude that Jesus came to show us how to have and enjoy the god kind of life. As a born-again believer you have been recreated and given a new life code (or DNA) to live by, and Jesus came to show us how to live that new creation reality here on earth. The Bible tells us in John 3:16, For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He (even) gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. Then in Romans 6:23 it tells us, For the wages which sin pays is death, but the bountiful free gift of God is eternal (the god kind of) life through and in union with Jesus Christ our Lord. This eternal life he came to give us is the very nature of God. In John 1:4 we can get a better understanding of what this life will do for us: In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men. One of the meanings for light in the dictionary is a state of understanding or awareness. So we could read this verse like this: in him was the god kind of life, and the god kind of life was the state of understanding and awareness for men. Let us live out of the zo kind of life and determine to be led by the spirit of God in all that we do so we can live in the actual abundance of God. Amen.
Summary Book Review So Loved the World by Daniel S. Ferguson:
Download or read book So Loved the World written by Daniel S. Ferguson and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2020-09-30 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God is a radical Democrat ... but not the kind you think. Rather, God is committed to giving power away to people He loves. He is a revolutionary democratizer. Too often we hoard power and accumulate authority, but God has called us to live like He does—continually giving our power away to others in the beautiful mutual submission known as love. So Loved the World examines how God does that throughout the world and considers how we can live in that spirit too. Authors Daniel S. Ferguson and Lori S. Ferguson provide real-life examples of democratization as a way of seeing what its core elements are. They then take a deep dive into the Scriptures to understand just how much God loves us and is committed to the democratization of His power. Finally, they address how everyone—especially Christians and churches—can give their power away in the same way God does, for the betterment of all. This faith-filled study explores ways to give power away instead of hoarding it and proposes methods for winning back those who have left the church through mutual friendship and love.

Summary Book Review God So Loved the World by Fr. Robert Spitzer, SJ:
Download or read book God So Loved the World written by Fr. Robert Spitzer, SJ and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 2016-03-08 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume the brilliant Fr. Spitzer probes in detail the major question that if an intelligent Creator God – manifest in logical proofs, scientific evidence, and near death experiences - who is the source of our desire for the sacred, and the transcendental desires for truth, love, goodness, and beauty, would want to reveal himself to us personally and ultimately. He then shows this is reasonable not only in light of our interior experience of a transcendent Reality, but also that a completely intelligent Reality is completely positive--implying its possession of a completely positive virtue – namely "love", defined as agape. This leads to the question whether God might be unconditionally loving, and if he is, whether he would want to make a personal appearance to us in a perfect act of empathy – face to face. After examining the rational evidence for this, he reviews all world religions to see if there is one that reveals such a God – an unconditionally loving God who would want to be with us in perfect empathy. This leads us to the extraordinary claim of Jesus Christ who taught that God is "Abba", the unconditionally loving Father. Jesus' claims go further, saying that He is also unconditional love, and that his mission is to give us that love through an act of complete self-sacrifice. He also claims to be the exclusive Son of the Father, sent by God to save the world, and the one who possesses divine power and authority. The rest of the book does an in-depth examination of the evidence for Jesus' unconditional love of sinners, his teachings, his miracles, and his rising from the dead. As well as the evidence for Jesus' gift of the Holy Spirit that enabled his disciples to perform miracles in his name, and evidence for the presence of the Holy Spirit today. If this strong evidence convinces us to believe that Jesus is our ultimate meaning and destiny, and desire His saving presence in our lives, that evidence should galvanize the Holy Spirit within us to show that Jesus is Lord and Savior, "the way, the truth, and the life." And our faith in him will transform everything we think about our nature, dignity, and destiny– and how we live, endure suffering, contend with evil, and treat our neighbor.

Book excerpt: There is a new word surfacing within the landscape of our churches today. That word is "missional." This word "missional," used by authors and trainers within the church community, is intended to promote a renewed sense of awareness for the type of life believers should seek to live every day. While "missional" may be a new term used to describe the Christian lifestyle, it is not a new concept. It began with God. In fact, God Himself is the builder of the missional lifestyle. His mission, the same that He has handed over to Christians today, is people. From the very beginning of time, God's missional walk has been you and me. That missional walk was not without cost and, like our Father in heaven, our missional walk will also have cost. But will our "missional" costs ever be as great as God's? God begins teaching us what His missional cost for us would be, what He was willing to pay, through the lives of Adam and Eve, Abraham, and Isaac. It was His Son, Jesus.Joel Hunt is pastor of Floridatown Baptist Church in Pace, Florida. He has served as the Pastoral Ministries Director for the Santa Rosa Baptist Association, Santa Rosa County, Florida, and he attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) in Wake Forest, NC. Joel and his wife, Jane, have two children.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In these troubled times, people are asking very difficult questions about God and their faith: If I suffer, does that mean I deserve it? Why do innocent people, especially children, die tragically? How can God be so cruel? Does God ever intervene during times of trouble? Who really runs the world-God or man? Do my prayers do any good? Why does God allow sickness, torture and evil to exist? Benjamin Blech admits, the answers are not simple. There is no one-size-fits-all explanation. Indeed, not only are there many answers, but in different situations several explanations may apply. Blech wrote this book as an intellectual analysis of Jewish wisdom on the subject of suffering. His theories are the fruit of thousands of years of debate, examination and struggle. Jewish wisdom teaches that there are rich and inspiring answers to the ultimate question: If God is good, why is the world so bad? Take part in the most important spiritual journey of all-the quest for serenity in the face of adversity-and discover that in the accumulated wisdom of the ages lies a time-tested solution for turning despair into hope and sorrow into faith.
Summary Book Review My Journey to Salvation by Keith Mitchell:
Download or read book My Journey to Salvation written by Keith Mitchell and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-05-03 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ARE YOU AWARE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT STATEMENT EVER MADE? "YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN" Why? Because without it you have no hope of enjoying the glories of heaven and escaping the horrors of hell. Are YOU born again? Jesus said "Ye must be born again." John 3: 7 "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:3 A very interesting event took place while Jesus walked the earth, many of the religious leaders of his day did not believe or receive him but there were some who due to fear of what people will say though they believed, they did not show publicly what they thought about him then in John chapter 3, one of them came to enquire at night about the kingdom Jesus was talking about. He was curious as to how one can be a part of the kingdom and Jesus said in verse three. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God" John 3:3 "Jesus answered him, I assure you most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the kingdom of God.' AMP The man must have looked at Jesus to confirm if he was in his right senses for he wondered how an adult would enter into his mother's stomach and be born again and Jesus told him "Except a man be born of the water and the spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." so we can see that this goes beyond physical birth, this is the work of the spirit of Christ. Many of us who were born into Christian homes automatically believe we are born again or part of the house hold of faith, God forbid that at the end, Jesus tells us to depart because he does not know us. Being part of a Christian home or being part of a church does not equal being born again. You may know a lot about Jesus and God of the Christians, you may even know some verses in the bible and be able to quote them well, you may be able to say a thing or two about Jesus but then do you know him personally. You may say you know the president of your country, you might be able to say a lot of things about him but then the level of knowledge you have cannot be compared to what his wife will say. The wife knows him better, she sleeps with him and shares intimacy with him, and he will tell her things he is too careful not to tell the world, she knows his strengths and his fears. She knows when he is pretending to be okay and smiling when he is dying in silence. Now that is a level, and God desires that, intimacy with God and a relationship with him is the end to which Christ died so that when you die you can share eternity with him in heaven. So it's not about knowing about Jesus, it is about Jesus knowing you. Do you want to make heaven and be part of the kingdom Jesus talked about? Then you must be born again for that is the access, the key to the kingdom that is what entitles you to all that pertains to life and godliness. The son of a prince does not beg for the throne, he knows the throne is his by birth, same thing goes, we are the King's kid and because we are born of God, we have all He has. "But as many as received him, to them gave the power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." John 1:12 So the power we have to be called sons is imparted at new birth, when we receive him into our life. Are you curious to know what this new birth is? Let's continue the ride through the pages of this book.
